Billy Markus, a computer engineer who co-founded the cryptocurrency Dogecoin with Jackson Palmer in 2013 but has since left the project, took to Twitter to express his thoughts on why the cryptocurrency world is “full of scams.”
Markus, also known on Twitter as “Shibetoshi Nakamoto,” has left the Dogecoin development team but remains an active and regular tweeter, commenting on DOGE and the crypto sector in general.
Scams frequently occur in the crypto space, according to Markus, because the community is unable to monitor the space and rid it of scammers — “they do a terrible job policing themselves.”
Rather than pursuing scammers and catching them, the crypto community is “supporting and defending crooks.”
since i made dogecoin 8 years ago as satire, somehow if i call out crypto scams, all it does is put a target on me from the most horrible garbage people in the crypto space.
