The open, worldwide wireless network Helium, which is run by its users, is known as the “People’s Network.” The world’s fastest-growing wireless network in recent years is Helium. The network suggested HIP 51 as part of its evolution with the goal of transforming the platform into a “network of networks.” This update, one of the most significant for the project, was accepted and subsequently implemented after community members cast their votes.
The community has passed HIP-51, which provides the economic and technical constructions of scaling the Helium Network to support new users, devices & different types of networks 🗳️✅https://t.co/19crjUoqlO

Create a “network of networks” out of the platform.
Helium’s improvement proposals are referred to as HIPs, or Helium Improvement Proposals, in the HIP network. The neighborhood had already put forward 58 HIPs prior to HIP 51. Only thirteen of them have received members’ approval for deployment. On June 7, 2022, HIP 51, which was approved, calls for the network to adopt a fresh Decentralized Network Protocol (DNP). By implementing this protocol, Helium would be able to scale to higher value-added networks like 5G and WiFi in addition to the IoT.
By transforming Helium and its currency HNT into a “network of networks,” HIP 51 hopes to enable the ecosystem to support a variety of network protocols and tokens. As a result, HIP 51 will establish a sub-DAO with its own coin and administration. HNT is the backer of newly generated tokens. Any moment will allow for the exchange of the new token for HNT.
What effects are there on active LoRaWAN hotspots?
First off, Helium is a decentralized, worldwide, long-range wireless network that covers LoRaWAN-capable IoT devices. The network also includes access points that offer public network coverage. End of February 2022 saw about 587,000 hotspots on the network. How will HIP 51 affect currently operating LoRaWAN hotspots? The network will then roll out the new protocol in three steps after this acceptance. The MOBILE token will be released on the Helium blockchain first as part of this. After that, 5G hotspots will begin to mine tokens.
The IOT token will have its time starting in August 2022. Following that, HNT mining will be replaced by IOT mining on all active LoRaWAN hotspots. Finally, with the adoption of HIPs 51, 52 (integration proposal for Helium’s IoT sub-DAO), and 53, Helium will transition to an active layer 1 blockchain (integration proposal for Mobile sub-DAO of helium).
The IoT is still present with the deployment of the HIP 51. Just recently, Helium widened its doors to support other network protocols. HIP 51 offers a blueprint for cellular and IoT networks. Future submissions of new HIPs should not rule out the potential that the network will embrace additional protocols like WiFi or VPN. Despite these changes, user-held HNT won’t be altered.
