Rob McElhenney, Star of “Always Sunny,” Launches Web3 Writers Room With Ethereum NFTs

The Web3 universe is based on a decentralized, collaborative culture, and it’s attracting established media industry innovators looking to try something new. Now, Rob McElhenney, star of the hit TV show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” wants to leverage the technology to collaborate on material and participate in the possible rewards.

McElhenney’s new “entertainment-tech” firm, Adim, will see the co-creator and star of “Always Sunny” and “Mythic Quest” collaborate with up-and-coming creators to create new characters and story ideas. The “Adimverse” will include original IP generated by the participants, with the co-creators benefiting from future entertainment productions based on that IP.

In a statement, McElhenney said, “Every beloved character across TV, film, and gaming history has been developed and brought to life through teamwork.” “Adim is laying the groundwork for the next development of these communities—communities of creators, writers, artists, designers, developers, fans, and friends collaborating to create and own a new generation of material.”

In the first round, 100 creators will be chosen from all applicants to participate in a virtual writer’s room alongside Adim co-founder and Co-Chairman McElhenney and TV writer Keyonna Taylor. All participants will get a “Core Character” NFT at the end of each session, which represents a share of ownership over the IP created in that cohort.
