Outland, a Los Angeles-based crypto art platform, has raised $5 million in its first seed round, which will take place in March 2022. OKG Ventures, IMO Ventures, Dragon Roark, and JDAC Capital have all made investments in the burgeoning Web3 cultural leader.
Outland, which debuted in February 2022, has garnered a lot of interest from both crypto and traditional art audiences throughout the world. Fang Lijun, a well-known Chinese modern artist, created a series of NFT works for the platform’s initial project, Elemental. Elemental has raised over 4,000 ETH in primary and secondary sales and has been in the top charts of OpenSea since its launch, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated NFT projects of 2022.
In April 2022, Outland began a major NFT collaboration with American artist James Jean. During the public sale, Jean, a cult artist, created a PFP collection of 7,000 editions that sold out in five minutes, netting 3,700 ETH in total.
The second wave of James Jean’s collaboration with Outland will be released on a future website. For the first time in history, a collection of narrative, iterative, and interactive NFT works will create their own cinematic universe.
Outland will present 3FACE in July 2022, the first large-scale NFT project by Ian Cheng, a well-known New York-based artist who has had solo exhibitions at the Serpentine Gallery in London and MoMA PS1 in New York, as well as participation in the Venice Biennale.
Because of its international vision and foresight, Outland will continue to grow its influence as the first NFT platform comprised of curators, critics, and professionals from art institutions. Through its leadership and support of artists from all disciplines, Outland establishes a standard for collaborative possibilities within Web3 culture.
