Sky Mavis confirms the reopening of the Ronin Bridge

According to information provided by the development team, Ronin is prepared to resume operations three months after being shut down as a result of a $600 million cyberattack. Ronin is a bridge that grants its customers a variety of options, and it is funded by the person who invented Axie Infinity.

Ronin will function once more.

Axie Infinity’s creator, Sky Mavis, has once more stated that Ronin will resume operation on June 28. In essence, the project’s delay prevented her from having wanted the bridge to reopen on June 23. Why ? It’s likely that the crew wanted to maximize the bridge’s efficiency.

  • “Our team of engineers have been hard at work preparing for the reopening of the bridge,” read a tweet from Sky Mavis. She took the opportunity to insist on the fact that restarting the bridge necessarily involves a hard fork of the network that all validators must perform in order to benefit from Ronin’s performance.

Victims’ compensation

Recall that on March 23, a group of hackers known as Lazarus attacked Ronin, leading to its closure. On Ronin, they had gained control of five of the nine validator nodes. In actuality, they had been successful in stealing 25.5 million USDC and roughly 173,600 ETH. Since these monies at the time of the events amounted to almost 600 million dollars, it was a significant hack.

Sky Mavis has pledged to provide refunds to everyone impacted by the hack in addition to restoring Ronin to full functionality. This is among the reasons the business raised $150 million from institutional investors, including the cryptocurrency exchange Binance and the businesses Andreessen Horowitz and Paradigm. These monies are supplemented by those from Sky Mavis, which will pay for the massive refund effort.

The bridge will resume functioning as of June 28 according to a post by Ronin’s development team. Although it should have been released on June 23, the date has been delayed in order to make the process as easy and pleasant as possible.
