For the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the French Olympic Committee intends to use a blockchain ticketing system. The committee intends to provide fans a blockchain-based ticketing system that is non-transferable and customised for them.
In order to avoid a repeat of last month’s Champions League Final, the committee also suggested improved safety standards. Last week, a 30-page report with recommendations was given to the Prime Minister’s office, where there was a strong reaction to the way the Liverpool and Real Madrid games were organized.
Michel Cadot, the French Olympics’ interministerial delegate, reportedly provided the report. The report included 2024 Olympic changes.
The report said every big sports event in France should have a personalized and secure ticketing system. The paper said blockchain tickets can protect fans. The group would send non-transferable tickets a few days before the Olympics.
The ticket can also be recorded using a rotating QR code that deactivates after entry. Personalized tickets may also provide digital messaging about transit, security, and venue access.
- “These provisions are already planned for the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the Olympics and Paralympics 2024 and practiced by major events such as the French International Tennis,”
Cadot pushed for a national committee to regulate international athletic competitions. Cadot says this “bridges the gap between global and local management.”
If the revisions are enacted, blockchain technology will benefit. Tokyo Olympics used crypto before. Bitbns exchange awarded Olympic medalists with crypto assets.
