- “Money is fundamentally digital at this point and has been for a while… It would make sense to integrate payments into Twitter so it’s easy to send money back and forth.”
It’s worth mentioning that Twitter has previously experimented in cryptocurrency. Users can take Bitcoin and Ether tips from their followers, and NFTs can be used as profile images on the social network.
When Jack Dorsey was CEO of Twitter in July 2021, he said that Bitcoin would be a “major component” of the company’s future.
The all-hands meeting is noteworthy because it indicates that Musk is still interested in purchasing Twitter, despite his past fears that the tech giant has more phony users than official numbers reflect.
In another part of the virtual discussion, Musk suggested that, due to the current economic climate, Twitter may have to lay off employees, saying:
